This analysis is based on ocean and air shipments tracked through ShipsGo in August 2026. The data provides a snapshot of the routes, carriers, service types, and air cargo connections that were most frequently tracked on the ShipsGo platform during the month.
Ocean Freight Insights
Ocean shipping remained highly active across several major trade lanes in August. Routes connecting Türkiye with Europe, as well as Southern Africa with Europe and North America, were among the most tracked.

Türkiye-Europe Routes Stand Out
Türkiye featured prominently in August's most tracked ocean routes.
Aliaga (Izmir) → Felixstowe ranked first with a 1.4% share and an average transit time of just 12 days. The route also had a 97.8% direct service ratio.
Two other Turkish ports ranked in the top 10 with Felixstowe: Istanbul (Ambarli) and Izmit (Gebze). Both routes recorded 100% direct services.
Aliaga also appeared in routes to Valencia, Antwerp, and New York, highlighting the port's strong position across different European and transatlantic trade lanes.
Direct Services Dominated Most Routes
Most of the top 10 routes relied heavily on direct services.
The Aliaga → Antwerp route recorded 99.5% direct services, while Aliaga → Felixstowe and Aliaga → Valencia each recorded 97.8%.
The biggest exception was Valparaiso → Philadelphia, where 100% of services involved transshipment.
This difference in routing structure can significantly affect transit times and shipment planning.

MSC ranked first, accounting for 20.0% of tracked shipments, followed by CMA CGM at 14.9% and Maersk at 13.5%.
Arkas Line recorded the highest direct-service ratio among the top 10 carriers at 94.1%, while Maersk had the highest transshipment share at 47.1%.

Some of the notable air cargo routes included:

- Noi Bai International Airport → Incheon International Airport
- Incheon International Airport → Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport
These routes highlight Incheon International Airport as a major connection point for Asian air cargo networks.

Three key observations stand out from the August data:
1. Türkiye remained highly visible in ocean freight.
Aliaga, Istanbul (Ambarli), and Izmit (Gebze) all appeared among the most tracked ocean routes.
2. Direct services dominated many major ocean routes.
Most of the top routes had very high direct-service ratios, although some lanes relied heavily on transshipment.
3. Asia remained a key hub for air cargo.
