ShipsGo 2021 Review

As ShipsGo Digital Container Tracking Platform, we wanted to review what we accomplished in 2021 before saying hello to a new year. We see that we are growing day by day; we feel this growth as a team. Let’s examine some statistics!

Increasing Digitalization

One thing we noticed is that digitalization is increasing in maritime logistics. It is observed that the word “Container Tracking” in Google searches has risen by 50% compared to the previous years. We can say that digitalization, which accelerated during the pandemic process, also showed its effect on maritime logistics processes. The world is now a digital place, and ShipsGo offers this environment to you.

Everything becomes more apparent when we try to see our progress in numbers. For example, are you surprised when we say at least one shipment owner knows and uses ShipsGo in more than 65 countries of the world? We understand that this will increase day by day. ShipsGo will help anyone who says “I need a container tracking service” anywhere in the world in 2022.

Let’s Talk Numbers

We have reached 650+ customers from many countries. We also wondered how our customers in different languages found us and searched. When we dip into the subject, we found that our customers in France call us “suivi des conteneur” while our customers in Spain find us with the words “localizador de envios.”

When we are closing 2021, we see that we have reached more than 1.5 million tracking requests. Our operation team worked diligently to notify our customers. For instance, you know that the crisis in the Suez Canal, the unfortunate explosion in Beirut, caused disruptions in maritime logistics. Our operation team quickly organized and sent instant notifications to our customers. We like to make people happy with the information, and our operation team gets their motivation from the positive feedback.

You have searched ocean routes on ShipsGo

We said that It is enough to know the shipment’s port of loading and discharge to use our route search tool. Our users searched 65K+ routes averagely per month. Thank you for trusting us! According to your route searches on our tool, we listed the popular carriers and freight forwarders on that route then showed you the shipment’s average transit time and service reliability. You tracked your load shipment with Live Tracking. We hope this has been a good experience for you because it was and always will be for us!

About Customer Experience

Speaking of experience, we aimed to maximize our customer experience, so we have collected some feedback to measure user experience. Shipsgo.com received an average of 25K+ visitors per day in 2021. Some of these visitors asked questions to the live support which is active 24/7 on our website. Throughout the year, we provided instant support to approximately 8000 customers. We answered their questions and solved their problems. When we reviewed the customer satisfaction surveys, 90% of our customers reported being satisfied with the live support they got.

Good Bye 2021!

We have added a new product to our Container Tracking and Route Finder products. We created the TeuSmile network where all freight forwarder members can meet and start the partnerships they are searching for. Finally, we had a very good 2021, and we believe 2022 will be even better. We hope everyone has a great year full of joy and happiness!

Ningbo Port’s Status

The Meishan terminal of China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan container port, the world’s third busiest port, was closed.

Ningbo Meidong Container Terminal Corp, a subsidiary of Ningbo Zhoushan Port Company Ltd, stopped all loading and discharging services as of 03:30 local time on Wednesday. The reason for stopping the port’s working activities is the staff tested positive for COVID-19.

On the other hand, when a Covid-19 outbreak was detected in Yantian Port in late May, operations at the major export hub in southern China were interrupted by 70% for most of June. Most ports in the country now require Covid-19 testing for all crew, and ships are forced to stay at anchor until negative results are confirmed. In addition, many ports in the country require vessels that have previously docked in India to be quarantined for 14-28 days.

The closure is thought to cause a delay of 15 days to the Mediterranean and Europe. Experts point out that even a two or three days delay leaves huge problems behind. An expert makes the following assessment on the subject: “There is no free capacity in any port of the world – especially in Chinese ports – that can be used extra. The effect of the 2-3 day closure will lead to delays of up to 15 days in the Mediterranean and Europe. I liken it to the long queue due to an accident on the highway.”

ShipsGo’s Attitude

ShipsGo immediately notified hundreds of users to make them avoid any negative issues related to the Ningbo Port. We informed our users by saying, ” due to this situation, the arrival date of your shipments will be delayed.” In addition to that, we include some points in our notifications, such as; first ETD date (estimated time of departure) from Ningbo, updated ETD date, and POD date (port of delivery) are available. ShipsGo users have been prevented from a possible negative outcome by the Shipsgo tracking system and the notification emails.

What Happened in the Explosion in Jebel Ali Port?

On Wednesday, July 7, a destructive explosion occurred in the Port of Jebel Ali, one of the world’s most famous ports. Docked container ship in Jebel Ali Port caught fire and turned the night into the morning.

It was stated that the reason for the explosion in Dubai’s Jebel Ali port possibly is the flammable materials in the containers. According to the statements made by the Dubai government’s media office, the middle east’s largest transshipment hub experienced an accident caused by a container holding flammable material. The massive fire, which started after an explosion in a container sparked, was extinguished on Thursday.

Although exact information about the container ship has not been shared so far, it is thought to be the 210 teu Ocean Trader vessel, owned by Sash Shipping Group, based in Dubai. The container explosion caused the ground to shake severely, and the buildings and windows in residential areas as far as 25 kilometers from the port were heavily affected. Investigation continues, and the extent of the casualties and the damage to marine life is unknown.

Video footage was posted on social media of firefighters dousing giant shipping containers. The flames were visible in the footage so that the world saw how violent the container explosion was in the Port of Jebel Ali. Port officials stated that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure that the normal movement of vessels and containers continues without disruption.

About Shipsgo

ShipsGo’s vision is to make people happy with the information. Since beginning our journey in the container transportation business, we have been trying to organize the shipping industry’s information and make it accessible universally. We have developed two well-known products in the digital container transportation market; container tracking and route finder. These two products were designed for “visibility” in container transport. We provide information on the current position of containers and carriers’ route performances (transit time and reliability). We have reached 5,000 daily searches on our website from 70+ countries and plan to get 30,000 daily quests worldwide.
