Given recent events in the Red Sea, commercial vessels and global supply chains have been negatively impacted on the Red Sea route. What Happened in the Red Sea?

Due to recent events at the Red Sea route, major shipping companies did not pass through the Suez Canal. In their latest statement, they announced that they would only pass the canal to the east and west once the Red Sea passage had been made safe. The world is paying attention to the ongoing conflict between Israel, Palestine, and other countries, which has led to a war. The war’s effects spread throughout the region and even had global implications. 

Some interventions against container vessels in the Red Sea route were among the ongoing events. The drone attack on the Maersk ship caused widespread concern. The number of interventions increased, and trade along the route was almost impossible.

Updates from the carriers

Here are the shipping firms that avoid the Suez Canal as Red Sea attacks:

• HAPAG LLOYD  announced that the Red Sea and Suez Canal will not be used until the problems are resolved. The company will use the Cape of Good Hope.
• CMA-CGM stopped its vessels heading to the Suez Canal.
• COSCO – OOCL stopped their voyages to the Israeli region.
• MSC announced that it will operate many of its voyages via the Cape of Good Hope. And they updated its sailing schedules.
• MAERSK  announced that it will stop all ships going to the Red Sea/Gulf of Aden. Due to the increased security situation in the region. Container Shipping process takes place via the Cape of Good Hope.
